ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman Clay Peets shattered the school record in the 3000 meters to highlight Friday's action for the St. Bonaventure men's track team at the Talon Invitational.

Peets posted the winning time of 8:53.16 in the 3000, easily surpassing his previous record of 9:10.55 set earlier this season. He won by six seconds over fellow Bona's freshman Zach Buckner who also broke the previous record by crossing the stripe in 8:59.27.

Two more Bonnies freshmen, Colin McCarthy (9:08.92) and Thomas Dachik (9:24.71) each ran personal best times in the event as well.

In the 1500 meters, Zane Courtwright showed the way for the Bonnies with his time of 4:05.66, narrowly missing his own program record mark of 4:05.46 set at conference championships last spring. Courtwright finished third overall out of 15 competitors.

Wyatt Hulsey was just behind his teammate, running a personal best with a time of 4:08.50, good for fourth individually in program history.

Kieran Ryan brought home a second-place finish in the 800, coming just short of his previous best of 2:00.68 which stands fourth in program history. Friday, he was just off the winning time of 2:00.25.

Darion Gregory moved from 10th to eighth in the Bona's 800 meter list, bettering his previous PR by over two seconds as he finished in 2:02.40.

Gregory and McCarthy both qualified for the Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend in Richmond.

After the meet, the team celebrated their graduating seniors: Elias Kott, Matthew Villanueva, Logan Caruso and John Pullano.
