Bearcats Top Bonnies Saturday Afternoon, 148-95

VESTAL, N.Y. – Freshmen Ben Giera and Luigi Termine earned event victories Saturday afternoon as the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team fell at Binghamton, 148-95.
 
Giera picked up a pair of wins on the diving board, recording scores of 309.30 (3-meter) and 282.00 (1-meter). Fellow diver Lucas Dekaney finished third in both these events with scores of 284.63 and 262.80.
 
In the 100-backstroke, Termine swam a time of 52.10 to earn a victory. The first-year swimmer was also a member of the 200-medley relay team that finished second with a time of 1:37.29.
 
Junior Maxwell Murray registered a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1000-freestyle (9:33.54) and 500-freestyle (4:40.34).
 
In the 200-IM and 100-breaststroke, senior Nicholas Nakaya swam times of 1:55.45 and 59.46 to place second in both events.
 
Sophomore Alexander Behr touched the wall in a time of 50.65 to finish second in the 100-butterfly, while placing third in the 200-freestyle (1:43.93).
 
A pair of third-place finishes were registered by Mikolaj Synowiec in the 1000-freestyle (9:53.20) and 500-freestyle (4:46.70). Also, junior Kyle Gluck (100-freestyle) and freshman Henry Wilkes (100-backstroke) each placed third in their respective events.
 
St. Bonaventure ended Saturday's dual-meet with a second-place finish from the 200-freestyle relay team of Behr, Gluck, Griffin Witte, and Patrick Heldreth with a time of 1:25.95.
 
On Saturday, Jan. 28, the Bonnies will end their dual-meet season against Gannon. Five men seniors (Joshua Bannon, Tomas Botero, Nicholas Nakaya, Nicholas Torre, and Griffin Witte) will be honored in a recognition ceremony at 12:50 p.m in the Reilly Center Pool. Diving is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., while swimming will begin at approximately 1:15 p.m. following the Senior Day ceremony.
