The St. Bonaventure University softball team returns to action Saturday and Sunday at the Mount Softball Invitational hosted by Mount St. Mary's. The Bonnies are also set to take on Central Connecticut State in a pair of contests.
The Bonnies begin their weekend in Maryland Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they take on CCSU. Sunday gets started at 10:00 a.m. against the Blue Devils and the Brown and White wrap up play at 2:00 p.m. against The Mount.
HAWAII RECAP
- Juanita Wolak led the Bonnies with a .316 batting average over the first two weeks of the season, collecting six hits, three runs and a pair of doubles.
- Grace Walker also hit above .300 for the Brown and White in Hawaii, carrying a .308 average and playing in six games.
- Wolak, Brooke Bobbey and Olivia Moon have all collected multiple RBIs for the Bonnies.
- In the circle, Emily Phelan and Elizabeth Lis each tossed a pair of complete games. Phelan pitched a shutout against Pacific March 3, helping the Bonnies to their first victory of the season. The junior struck out four batters and allowed just six hits. Phelan has 18 strikeouts on the season, including a season-high seven against Niagara.
MOUNT ST. MARY'S NOTES
- Mount St. Mary's enters the weekend with a 3-10 record. The Mount have scored wins over Saint Joseph's (2-0), Coastal Carolina (3-2) and Ole Miss (4-1). Five out of Mount St. Mary's losses this season have been by one run, including a 6-5 loss to No. 10/13 Virginia Tech on March 7.
- The Mount are led offensively by Abigayle Perry who is hitting .303 early on in the year. Perry and Maggie Kane are tied for the team lead in RBIs with four each and both are the only two players to start all 13 games so far this season.
- In the circle, Mount St. Mary's touts a 3.14 team ERA. Avery Neuhart leads the team with a 1.75 ERA and is second on the team with 24.0 innings pitched. Maddie Coleman carries a 2.88 ERA in a team-high 24.1 innings.
- When St. Bonaventure and Mount St. Mary's square off, there will be familiar faces in the opposing dugout. Both head coach Anna Nagro and assistant coach Christine Keleher are graduates of St. Bonaventure and played for Bonnies head coach Mike Threehouse. Keleher was a 2018 inductee into the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame.
CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE NOTES
- CCSU enters Saturday with a 3-4 record overall to start the year. The Blue Devils have earned wins over Hampton, Hartford and Manhattan.
- Kim Howard leads the Blue Devils offensively with a .318 batting average in 22 at-bats. She also leads the team with seven hits and seven RBIs. Grace Lawton has belted a pair of home runs for Central Connecticut State.
- Kaylee Whittaker has pitched a team-high 31.0 innings this season and carries a 2.94 ERA. She also leads the team with three victories and 19 strikeouts.

- The Bonnies begin Atlantic 10 play with a three-game set on the road at Saint Louis, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday, March 18 at noon.
