ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Five St. Bonaventure University softball student-athletes have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team honors: Graduate student Madison Stewart, seniors Abby Suhr and Juanita Wolak as well as juniors Brooke Bobbey and Emily Phelan.
Madison Stewart carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA, graduating with a degree in elementary, special and early childhood education.
She finished her Bonnies career with 127 games played, 121 starts, 295 at-bats, 50 hits, 39 walks, 20 runs, 11 doubles, 11 RBIs and four home runs.
As a senior in 2023, Stewart started 39 games at catcher, collecting 17 hits, including a walk-off home run against George Mason April 7.
Abby Suhr earned a bachelor's degree in health and safety and will begin graduate studies in nutrition and dietetics. She carried a 3.926 cumulative GPA in the classroom.
On the field, Suhr was fourth on the Bonnies this season with a .287 batting average to go along with 27 hits, five doubles and a home run.
Juanita Wolak carried a 3.831 GPA while graduating with a degree in public health. She plans on beginning a Master's program in occupational therapy.
This season, Wolak appeared in 42 games while making 40 starts in the outfield. She tallied 19 hits, nine runs, six RBIs, three doubles and two triples.
For her career, she appeared in 70 games and made 59 starts.
Brooke Bobbey led the Bonnies in almost every offensive category this season, leading the team in at-bats (136), total bases (56), hits (44), runs scored (21), walks (20), stolen bases (11) and triples (4), earning Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team honors.
Bobbey hit .368 to go along with 28 hits, 13 runs, three doubles and two triples during Atlantic 10 play.
Off the field, Bobbey is a health and society major with a 3.861 cumulative GPA.
Emily Phelan Bona's pitching staff in 2023, amassing nine wins in 182.0 innings pitched while striking out 139 batters. Phelan set the program record for single season appearances (36) and starts (34) and while also ranking third in program history in single season strikeouts, third in single season innings pitched, seventh in single season complete games and ninth in single season wins.
In the classroom, Phelan is an inclusive, early and childhood education major and carries a 3.989 GPA.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6.
