Men's Swim and Dive Victorious in Final Home Meet

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team took down Canisius in Bona's last home event of the season. The Bonnies had three podium sweeps in the 189-105 win Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center Pool.
 
Before the meet, the Bonnies celebrated their graduating class of eight swimmers: Tanner Falls, Kyle Gluck, Jaxon Kaster, Teddy Murphey, Maxwell Murray, Michael Pietrucha, Zachary Titus, and Tommy White
 
After the senior ceremony, the squad got right back to business by finishing first and second in the 200-medley relay. The winning relay team, made up of Luigi Termine, Nicholas Nakaya, Alexander Behr, and Carlos Hidalgo, finished with a time of 1:32.47. 
 
The Bonnies' three podium sweeps came in the 50-, 100-, and 500-freestyle events. 
 
Graduate student Sam Matthews posted the fast time in the 50-freestyle at 20.83. He was followed by senior Kyle Gluck (20.99) and freshman Carlos Hidalgo (21.41). 
 
In the 100-free, Matthews and Hidalgo placed second and third while grad student Tanner Falls touched the wall first with a time of 46.01. 
 
Bonnies swimmers took the top three spots in the 500-freestyle as well. Maxwell Murray led the way with a 4:35.11 time. Spring semester transfer Denton Smith made his Bonaventure debut with a second-place finish in the event (4:44.95) while freshman Aiden Hall followed (4:48.42). 
 
Also earning wins for the Bonnies were Mikolaj Synowiec in the 1000-freestyle, Knute Wargin in the 100-breaststroke, and Boray Goren in the 100-butterfly. Goren posted a time of 50.64 which is his best of the season. 
 
The Bonnies travel to Pittsburgh next weekend for a tri-meet with Clarion and Duquesne as their final outing before Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 21-23 in Hampton, Va.
