Behind The Bonnies: Alexander Behr (Men's Swimming)

Welcome to "Behind The Bonnies," a new GoBonnies.com series where we get to know the student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we meet Bonnies senior Alexander Behr.
 

Alexander Behr has been one of St. Bonaventure's top swimmers in recent years. Behr holds the program record in the 100-butterfly, 200-butterfly, and 800-freestyle relay.

As a junior, Behr earned a silver medal in the 200-butterfly at the Atlantic 10 Championships with a time of 1:44.97. In the same conference meet, Behr also placed sixth in the 100-butterfly with a time of 47.85 and fourth in the 100-backstroke with a time of 48.43.  

As a sophomore, Behr was a member of the 200-medley team that finished fourth at the 2023 A-10 Championships. Behr also broke his own program record in the 100-butterfly for a fourth-place time with a time of 47.44 in the same championships and also notched a silver medal in the 200-butterfly final, posting a time of 1:45.41

Alexander Behr is a native of Letzendorf, Germany.
 

What is your favorite memory playing your sport? Having everyone cheering me on during a hard race 

What is your favorite hobby to do outside of playing your sport? Playing volleyball and chess

Where is your dream vacation spot? A nice Swedish fjord 

What is the best part about being a part of your Bonnies team? The unity in both good and bad times

What is your favorite sports team and who is your favorite athlete? Caleb Dressel 

Why did you choose St. Bonaventure? To further my education while swimming in an environment where people care about me as a person and not just a number

What is your unpopular opinion? Pineapple belongs on pizza 

What is your favorite quote from your Coach? "In order to know how to win you need to learn how to lose."

Where is your favorite place you've traveled with the team? Florida 

If you could live inside one TV show/movie what would it be? How To Train Your Dragon 

What is something you think most people don't know about your sport? How hard it is mentally more than physically 

If you weren't playing your sport, what other sport would you most like to play? Volleyball
