Welcome to "Behind The Bonnies," a new GoBonnies.com series where we get to know the student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we meet Bonnies junior Casey Malloy.
Casey Malloy burst onto the collegiate scene as a freshman when he qualified for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships for the 3000 meter run. Later in the year, Malloy went on to qualify for the A-10 Outdoor Championships in the 5000 meters as well.
As a sophomore, Malloy placed in the team's top-seven four times during cross country season while qualifying for the Atlantic-10 Cross Country Championships for the first time. In the same season, Malloy posted a new 8KÂ PR of 26:52.5 at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational in Gettysburg.
During the indoor track season, Malloy ran a program top-five time in the 3000 meters with a mark of 9:05.03 at Cornell. During the outdoor track season, Malloy posted a new 5000 meter PR at the Colonial Relays when he ran a time of 15:54.26.
He has been one of the team's top runners during cross country this fall, setting a new program individual top-10 8K time of 26:11.6 at Lock Haven in September, good for eighth in the Bonnies record book.Â
Casey Malloy is a native of New Hartford, N.Y.
