Â
JOSEPH R. MURPHY RECORD BOARD
Prior to Saturday's meet, the program will hold a special ceremony to dedicate the new record board in the Reilly Center Pool named for Joe Murphy.Â
Joe Murphy was a 2000 graduate and four-year letterwinner for the men's swim team serving as captain his senior year. During his time as a Bonnie, Joe specialized in the sprint free and fly events and was a multiple event Atlantic 10 Champion and former school record holder.
Following his graduation from St. Bonaventure, Joe returned to Buffalo and began a career at KeyBank and became a father to Finn and Ella. Over the years, Joe became increasingly involved in several non-profit organizations and charities throughout the Buffalo area and was widely known for his generosity. Tragically, Joe Murphy passed away on Feb. 13, 2019.
The same philanthropic spirit that Joe possessed has now been reciprocated through donations collected from teammates, classmates, friends, co-workers, and his Buffalo Leadership Class, towards the Joe Murphy Memorial Record Board that will be displayed in the Reilly Center Pool.
