HAMPTON, Va. – The St. Bonaventure men's swim and dive team is tied for third after the second day of competition in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex.
Ben O'Neill highlighted the Thursday night action, winning a silver medal for the second consecutive year in the 1-meter dive.
George Washington leads the field with 342 points, followed by George Mason with 177. The Bonnies are tied with La Salle with each squad accumulating 159 points. Davidson (158), Massachusetts (128), Fordham (121), and Saint Louis (84) round out the leaderboard.
O'Neill defended his silver medal from the 2024 A-10 Championships, earning a spot in the A-final with a 283.30 score in the prelim round. The Royal Oak, Mich. native improved to 309.35 in the finals to take second place on the podium. He finished behind Andrew Bell of Massachusetts, who posted a score of 359.80.
Sam Matthews helped add to the team point total, recording a fifth-place finish in the 50-freestyle with his time of 20.14.
The second Bonnie featured in an A-final was
Johnny Edwards. Edwards took eighth in the 500-freestyle with a time of 4:31.07.
In the 200-IM, sophomore
Kevyn Collazo Torres and grad
Aidan Kreiley competed in the consolation final. Collazo Torres recorded a time of 1:49.35 to finish 11
th, while Kreiley finished in 1:50.60 to take 14
th.
The 200-freestyle relay team of Matthews,
Will Parker, Collazo Torres, and
Carlos Hidalgo finished seventh (1:21.32).
