LEWISBURG, Pa. – Two program records and numerous personal bests highlighted the opening of 2026 competition for the St. Bonaventure women's track team Saturday at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell.
Bona runners shined in the 1000 meters with four Bonnies recording top-10 program times.
Freshman Sydney March recorded a new school record with a finishing time of 3:05.51, easily clearing the previous program-best of 3:19.44 which stood since 2023. Sophomore Alex Jensen also cleared the existing school record as she clocked in at 3:15.81. Freshman Gianna Bille (3:20.65) and senior Mary Trost (3:21.59) move to fifth and seventh respectively in the Bonnies records with personal bests as well.
In the 5K, freshman Jillian Lozo posted the second-fastest individual time in the program record book as she crossed the stripe in 18:44.20, good for seventh in Saturday's meet. It was the fastest time by a Bonnie in the 5K since 2024.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The team turned in an impressive performance highlighted by depth, resilience, and record-breaking efforts. In total, 14 women posted personal records, a strong indicator of the work being put in early in the indoor season.
"A number of individual performances stood out. Jillian Lozo delivered a tremendous run in the 3,000 meters, a performance that now places her second all-time in the program's indoor record book. Fellow freshman Sydney March also etched her name into the record books, running 3:05.51 in the 1,000 meters, the fastest indoor mark in school history. Naina Slaughter showed impressive strength and determination in her return from injury, posting two strong races in the mile and the 800, demonstrating that she is quickly rounding back into competitive form.
"Additionally, Maddie McMahon and Mia Winters, both of whom missed the entire fall season due to injury, returned with confidence and focus. Their performances at Bucknell reflected their commitment to the process, as both qualified in their respective events for the A-10 Championships, proving they are ready to contribute at a high level moving forward.
"Overall, this meet was an excellent step forward for the program. The combination of personal bests, record-setting runs, and successful returns from injury speaks to the team's preparation, resilience, and competitive mindset as the indoor season continues."
