ROCHESTER – A total of 22 student-athletes recorded personal best times on a solid afternoon for the St. Bonaventure women's track team at the Nazareth Challenge Cup.
Sophomore Madeline McKillop went to the top of the board in the program record book with a new 800-meters school record time of 2:19.83. She easily topped her own previously existing record time of 2:21.27 run last year at SPIRE.
Freshman Sydney March moved to fourth in the program record book for the 800 at 2:25.31 while junior Madison McMahon will stand fifth after her own PR of 2:25.54.
The mile was a standout event for the Bonnies on Saturday as the top four finishers for the team all registered personal bests.
At the front of the Bonnies pack in the mile was senior Mia Winters who placed seventh out of 40-plus competitors with a run of 5:21.60, beating her previous top time from her sophomore year by over two seconds. That effort also jumps to second individually in program history.
McMahon also set a new PR, just beating her previous best set one year ago on this same track as she now ranks third in the program record book at 5:22.02. Sophomore Naina Slaughter surpassed her previous PR by nearly five full seconds as she clocked in at 5:30.95 to move to ninth in program history while junior Gabriella Randazzo also timed in a PR of 5:34.80.
Winters led the Bonnies again in the 3K, finishing third out of 39 athletes with a time of 10:45.16. Freshman teammate Jillian Lozo was fifth at 10:51.45, jumping to third in the program record books behind only Winters' school record set in 2024 and Miranda Habshi's time of 10:50.64 posted last year.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Brianna Reynolds advanced out of the heats with a 9.79 with her first action since the semester break.
Also in sprints, freshman Malaika George won her heat race in the 400 meters at 1:03.49, tying for third in the program record book.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The women had a great day today. Credit to the entire group for staying dedicated to training despite the weather not being conducive to running outside — the treadmill has become a close friend, and Butler Gym has been key for drills and plyometrics. That work is showing up in competition, and the relays are continuing to come together as we build toward championships.
"I also want to give a special call-out to Maddie McMahon, who had an outstanding night with personal bests in both the 800 and the mile, qualifying for championships in both events. Maddie McKillop continues to raise the bar, setting a new school record in the open 800. Our freshman sprinter Malaika George continues to improve every meet and also qualified for championships in the 60 and 400. Freshman Jillian Lozo has also had a great progression and has now qualified for championships in both the 3K and 5K."
