LEWISBURG, Pa. – Thirty-six holes of outstanding play saw the St. Bonaventure men's golf team finish in red figures and fourth out of 18 teams at the Bucknell Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Bucknell Golf Club.

After Sunday's scheduled round was washed out, the teams played under lift, clean and place rules in Monday's opener. Low scores across the board resulted with the Bonnies putting themselves in contention with a team score of 3-under 278 – the best mark for the team in any round outside of a tournament played on its home course of Bartlett Country Club in Olean since 2016. On Tuesday, the Bonnies matched their opening round as they finished at 279, good for a tournament total of 3-under par 557.

Fairleigh Dickinson dominated the tourney with a winning score of 537, nine shots ahead of second-place Colgate. Youngstown State was three ahead of Bonaventure for third. Rider and Robert Morris tied for fifth at even-par 560.

The Bonnies received solid play throughout the lineup.

Junior Dante Bertoni carded a sparkling round of 2-under 68 at the 6,224-yard layout Monday, tying the low Bonnies round for the fall to that point. He concluded the tournament with 72 to tie for 18th individually at even-par for the week. Sophomore teammate Colin Barber equaled that effort with matching scores of 68-72 to give the Bonnies two top-20 finishers in a field of 108 competitors.

Freshman Mitchell Sargent went low on Tuesday with one of the top rounds in program history.

Sargent shot the best round of any Bonnies player this season and was just one off the school record as he turned in a score of 4-under 66.

After an up-and-down first round 75, Sargent was nearly unblemished on Tuesday. He drained three birdies on the front nine for 3-under 33 and, after a bogey on the par-3 10th, immediately bounced back to birdie the par-4 11th, adding another on the par-5 15th for his 4-under 66. For the tournament, he tied for 28th.

Junior teammate Braddock Damore was also one-over for the week in a tie for 28th. After a strong effort of 69, his best of the fall, he finished up at 72 on Tuesday.

Freshman Nicolas Gaughan completed the team scoring with 2-over for the tournament (73-69) with Tuesday's round of 1-under 69 representing his collegiate best.

Playing as an individual, freshman Reid Wilson posted scores of 76-74.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH PATRICK DAMORE
"We had a really positive event this week with several players in red figures each day. Nobody putted well for two days, but we were able to put together good scores. We're looking forward to finishing the fall strong at Kilmarlic."
