ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Bonnies seniors Christian Figueroa and Mia Winters have earned 'Thinclad of the Year' honors as the top men's and women's track performers of the 2025-26 season.
Established this season as a new award, the first accolades go to two student-athletes who graduate with their names throughout the Bonnies record books.
"We introduced the Thinclad Male and Female Athlete of the Year Award this year because our team now competes across the full range of running events, giving us the perspective to fairly evaluate athletes in every discipline," St. Bonaventure head coach Bob Macfarlane said. "With that broader involvement, the award recognizes the most outstanding overall performers—those who demonstrate consistency, versatility, and impact—and it spans both the indoor and outdoor track seasons, reflecting excellence across the entire year rather than a single event or season. The name "Thinclad" draws from an older term once used by news media to describe track athletes, and since we already honor cross country athletes with the annual Harrier Award, it was only fitting to return to the sport's roots when naming our track award."
Figueroa, a native of Burlington Township, N.J., has been a key player in building Bona's fledgling sprint team. A four-year member of the Bonnies running program, he owns several school records.
He will graduate as Bona's record-holder in the outdoor 200 meters (22.33) and 400 meters (49.42) with times set during his senior season. He also stands atop the Bonnies charts for the indoor 200 (22.71) and 400 (49.88).
Figueroa is also part of four of Bona's top five outdoor 4x400 relay teams as well as the program's top 4x100 relay. For indoor, he is part of four of Bona's top five 4x400 relay times while also being part of the 4000-meter distance medley relay record-holding team.
Winters stands as one of the program's top distance runners.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native graduates with the Bonnies record for the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:11.20) as well as the indoor 3000 (10:23.76). She also ranks second in the outdoor 3K (11:00.48) and 5K (17:45.60). Earlier this spring, she moved to fourth in the indoor mile (5:21.60).
She finished her career with a memorable performance at Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track Championships, competing in both the steeplechase and 5K on the same day, just over two hours apart. Winters placed 11th in the steeplechase (11:20.26) before running a time of 18:08 in the 5K.
