FREDONIA, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's outdoor track team battled cold and rainy conditions in the regular season finale Saturday at the Fredonia Last Chance Qualifier.

Following the meet, the Bonnies honored their graduating seniors: Christian Figueroa, Ethan Luce, Aiden Holt, James Hoffman, Casey Malloy and Tyler Schott.

SBU took the top two spots in the 3000-meter steeplechase as junior William McCarthy scored the win with a run of 9:56.76. Just behind was freshman Jack Handman who set a new personal best of 10:06.69 which is sixth individually in the school record book.

"The middle-distance group had a strong showing with Kevin Renner, Michael Binkowski and Brecken Riley all delivering impressive times. Jack Handman also turned in a solid performance with a personal best in the steeplechase.

"In the distance events, freshmen Nate Viele and Canton Wetzel continued their progression, each adding a personal best in the 5K as they build consistency and confidence late in the season.

"With a number of encouraging performances despite the challenging conditions, we'll shift our focus to the championship weekend coming up. Fourteen members of the men's team have qualified and will represent the Bonnies at the championship meet."
