BUFFALO – St. Bonaventure senior Darion Gregory set a new school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase as the Bonnies men's track team battled wet and windy conditions on a chilly day at the UB Alumni Invite.

Gregory shattered the previous best in school history by becoming the first Bonnies runner to break the 10-minute mark in the event. The fourth-year Bonnies athlete did so with ease, finishing in 9:45.03, under a half second off the winning time of 9:44.60 set by UB's Sean O'Brien.

Junior Henry Trost also PR'ed in the steeplechase, finishing in 10:26.89.

Sophomore Clay Peets gave the Bonnies another standout moment as he won the 5000 meters, cruising to victory by nearly three full seconds over Andrew Perreault of Canisus. Peets posted the winning time of 14:55.74, beating 24 other competitors in the race.

Freshman Aiden Scattergood finished fifth out of 33 runners in the 800 meters with his time of 2:00.36.

The Bonnies are back in action next Saturday at the Red Flash Open hosted by Saint Francis (PA).
