LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – A total of 13 Bonnies set new personal best times in a standout day for the St. Bonaventure men's cross country team at the Lock Haven Invitational.

Aiden Scattergood, just a week removed from winning the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational, was again near the front of the field Saturday morning. The third-year Bonnies runner placed 10th out of over 230 competitors in the Crimson 8K race and was able to break the 25-minute mark as he crossed the finish line in 24:59.5.

Behind him, two of his teammates turned in two big personal best times and jumped into the Bona's record book in the process.

Junior Casey Malloy clocked in at 26:11.6, beating his previous 8K PR set last year in Gettysburg by over 40 seconds. Sophomore William McCarthy was next across the finish line at 26:12.3 which bested his previous PR by almost a full minute. The teammates jump to eighth and ninth individually in the program record book with their efforts.

Sophomore Joshua Lopez was next across the line for the Bonnies at 26:19.4, just off his personal best set in this meet last year.

Sophomore Brendan Chapple was 35 seconds faster than his PR of a week ago (27:06.2) while freshman Sam Tomm improved upon his first collegiate 8K last weekend by over a minute as he timed in at 27:08.0.

Junior Ethan Luce rounded out the team's top-seven at 27:17.7 while freshmen Aiden Konetsky (27:24.3) and Nathan Sikorski (27:35.8) each set new personal bests.

As a team, the Bonnies finished seventh out of 26 squads.

In the White Race, the Bonnies were second out of 18 squads.

Junior Alex Ryan was eighth in the field of 100 competitors with his run of 26:52.7, just ahead of teammate Colin McCarthy. The senior finished 12th with a time of 27:07.1 while fellow senior James Fitzmaurice was next in line at 27:09, good for a new PR.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The men's team demonstrated a notable improvement in their race performance compared to the previous week. This enhancement can be attributed to several factors, including increased training intensity, strategic race planning, and individual athlete development. Overall both men's teams improved team placement from last year's race at Lock Haven."

"Thirteen out of 21 runners had their personal best today. Nine of the upperclassman who ran the race today compared with last year's race showed a remarkable improvement. Our athletes who take personal responsibility for their fitness levels often see significant gains over time."
