400-Meter Records Fall as Women's Track Begins Outdoor Campaign

3/29/2025 8:50:00 PM

GENESEO, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's track team opened outdoor season on a soggy day at Geneseo, bringing home two new school records along the way.

Freshman Madeline McKillop made her collegiate debut in the 400 hurdles a winning one as she posted a victorious time of 1:07.02 to sneak past Justine Draper of RIT who finished in 1:07.08. Her run establishes a new program record as well as she broke the existing record of 1:14.12 set by Tristen Reid in 2017 by over seven seconds. Riley Fronce also moves to third in the event (1:14.17).

Another freshman, Jenna Wyant recorded a Bonnies program record in her first collegiate outdoor meet, too, as ran a time of 1:00.63 in the 400, besting the existing mark of 1:02.25 turned in by Bridget Kennedy in 2022.

Junior Mia Winters ran the second-fastest individual time in Bona's 5000-meter history with her effort of 18:08.12, good for third in Saturday's race of 26 competitors.

All three Bonnies competitors in the 200 made a dent in the program record book as freshman Julia Wyant leapt to second in school history with her debut time of 27.89 while both Meghan Litteer (27.99) and Riley Gomolka (29.30) logged new PR times in the program's individual top-five. Julia Wyant also moved to second in the 100 as well at 13.43.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"Despite the rainy weather, the team really showed up with strong performances. The women's team achieved nine personal bests and had nine individuals move into the top-10 of the program record board. They also set two new school records in the 400m open and 400m hurdles."

"Coach Lonzi and myself are impressed with the athletes' efforts, noting that they've been working hard since the mid-term break. The opportunity to train on the Olean track has clearly paid off, as reflected in today's results. This marks a strong start to the season, with athletes now having a clearer focus on the events they need to concentrate on to qualify for the championship season."

UP NEXT
The Bonnies travel to two separate meets next weekend with much of the team heading to the Colonial Relays at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. while other athletes will compete in the Geneseo Early Spring Invite next Saturday.
