Malloy Registers New 5K School Record For Men's Track

2/13/2026 9:50:00 PM

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Senior Casey Malloy's program record time in the 5000 meters highlighted a solid day of competition including many personal bests as the Bonnies capped the regular season portion of their schedule Friday at the Youngstown State Last Chance Invitational.

Malloy shattered his existing school record in the 5K. The fourth-year Bonnie bested his previous PR by nearly 22 seconds as he timed in at 15:01.98 on Friday afternoon, good for sixth on the day out of 50 competitors.

Three Bonnies set new personal bests in the mile with Nathan Sikorski moving to seventh individually in school history at 4:24.82, just over two seconds better than his old PR. Joshua Lopez also recorded a top-10 program time, jumping to eighth at 4:24.88, improving by over four seconds from his previous PR posted last month.

Both Layne Haught and Alexander Rennick recorded new Bonnies top-10 times of 9:02.49 and 9:03.15 respectively in the 3K.

Christian Figueroa paced the team in the 400 (50.78) while teammates Kohler Preston (50.93) and Henry Morris (52.06) clocked in personal best times to move into top-five spots individually in the Bona record book.

For the 800, Ryan Umiker almost matched his PR as he led the team in the event with an effort of 1:58.85 while teammate Kieran Maguire broke the two-minute barrier for the first time (1:59.50) to move to ninth on the program record board.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"I'm really proud of our guys and the work ethic they show every day. Their commitment to improving is paying off — 15 personal bests and eight athletes moving into our top 10 record board is a strong statement for this group. Casey Malloy breaking the school record in the 5K by 21.06 seconds was outstanding. Nate Sikorski and Josh Lopez both lowered their mile times, Kieran Maguire continues to develop well in the mid-distance events, and Ryan Umiker did a great job setting the pace in the 800. I'm also excited about our freshman distance runners, Alex Rennick and Jack Handman, who have improved their times at every meet this season. It's great to see their hard work translating into results."

UP NEXT
Members of the team will compete in one more meet to attempt qualification for the conference championships as they head to Nazareth College for the Conference Tune-Up next Friday afternoon. For Bonnies who have already posted qualifying times, the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach are next up Feb. 27-28.
