The GoBonnies.com Male Athlete of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Sept. 25 is men’s cross country sophomore Clay Peets.
 
Peets broke the 8K school record by 10 seconds to help his team to place fourth out of 15 schools Saturday morning at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
 
This marks the second time this season he has broken a school record as he shattered the Bona's record in the 5K in the season-opening Little Three Championship.
 
The Akron, Ohio native crossed the finish line with a time of 25:26.2 to break the previous record time of 25:36.6 held by William Delaney since 2019. Peets finished fourth overall in the field of 174 competitors and ran a mile pace of 5:08. He also bettered his time at the same course a season ago by over 45 seconds.
 
His performance this weekend earned him a selection as the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Men’s Performer of the Week.
