ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – David Hollins drove in two runs and Cole Peterson and Dave Vaccaro each plated runs as well, but it was not enough in the regular season finale for the St. Bonaventure baseball team as Fordham took the rubber game, 8-5, Saturday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

With the Bonnies locking into the third seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament and Fordham being eliminated from postseason contention after St. Bonaventure's win Friday, Saturday's game had no bearing on the A-10 picture.

Fordham led 1-0 heading for the third, but the Bonnies cashed in on three Rams errors in back-to-back players for a pair of unearned runs and a 2-1 lead.

St. Bonaventure used another Fordham error to score again in the fifth when Peterson got aboard on a fielding error and then scored following a single from Hollins.

The Rams answered with two runs in the sixth, however, and added three more in the seventh for a 6-3 advantage.

The Bonnies nearly rallied from behind for the second consecutive day, plating two runs in the seventh. With the score at 6-5 and the bases loaded and two outs, Jared Baldinelli took a pitch that he thought would be ball four. The pitch was called strike three, however, and the threat ended.

Fordham posted two runs in the ninth for final insurance.

Taishi Terashima delivered two hits and scored two runs. Casey Vincent (2-4) started and struck out three over 6.1 innings of work.

The Bonnies complete their regular season at 26-20 overall and 15-8 in Atlantic 10 play while Fordham finishes 27-24, 11-12.

St. Bonaventure will be the No. 3 seed in the A-10 Tournament beginning Wednesday in St. Louis, but await word on an opponent. Final brackets will be released by the conference Saturday night.

Following the game, the Bonnies honored their seven seniors – Terashima, Baldinelli, Tommy LaCongo, Brad Gresock, Danny Urban, T.J. Baker and Scott Jerge with traditional last laps around the Fred Handler Park bases. This year's senior class has helped Bona to 52 victories the past two seasons.
