ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Darion Gregory set the school record in the 1000 meters as part of competition for the St. Bonaventure men's indoor track team at Cornell Saturday afternoon.
Gregory clocked in with a time of 2:36.35, good for third on the day and best in the school record books. He was able to squeak past the previous record mark of 2:36.43 set by teammate Zane Courtwright last year at Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
Also in the 1000, senior Wyatt Hulsey broke his previous PR by nearly eight seconds to stand fourth in school history (2:40.42) while sophomore Drew Carlson jumps to fifth at 2:48.34.
Sophomore Conor Quinn moves to third in the program record list for the 3000 meters with his run of 9:19.39 which finished ninth overall on Saturday. He was just ahead of teammate Casey Malloy (9:20.85). In the event, each Bonnie who competed set a PR time – Owen Noecker and Henry Trost posted their personal bests as well.
In the 5000 meters, sophomore Colin McCarthy bested his previous PR time set at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships last year by over a second with the second-best effort in the event in school history at 15:55.23. He finished eighth out of 27 competitors in Saturday's race.
Sophomore Jared Deno (16:05.97) was 10th with another program top-five mark, right ahead of Ethan Luce (16:11.02). Â
Sophomore Clay Peets placed third in the mile with a run of 4:22.58, just off the winning time of 4:19.78 set by Cornell's Jake Gelfand.
Freshman Christian Figueroa set the top time for the Bonnies in the 400 since the rebirth of the indoor track program in 2020 in last week's meet and he was faster on Saturday, finishing at 54.37, better than his time of 54.89 posted a week ago.
At the 800 meters, freshman Aiden Scattergood became the second Bonnies runner to break the 2-minute barrier, finishing at 1:59.88 for his collegiate best time. He placed fifth overall in the event out of 23 runners.
Next up for the Bonnies is a trip to Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend in Rhode Island.
