HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's track team put in a solid showing Friday night in the 2024-25 indoor track season-opening Houghton December Classic.
In the 200 meters, junior Christian Figueroa ran a new school record time as he sprinted across the finish stripe in 23.12.
Sophomore Riley Dillon also broke the existing school record of 23.70 in the 200 which he set at last year's Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships as he ran the event in 23.40 for a new PR.
Figueroa turned in a strong first meet of the year across the board as he also logged a personal best in the 400 with a time of 51.77, good for second individually in school history. He won Friday's event by nearly a full second. Dillon was also strong, taking third (52.95).
Junior Aiden Scattergood brought the Bonnies another event victory in the 3000 meters. His time of 8:42.42 was good enough to win Friday's race by nearly three seconds as he shattered his previous PR and jumped to third individually in school history.
Three other Bonnies provided new program top-10 times in the 3000 as well: senior Drew Carlson (9:06.24, sixth) and sophomores Brendan Chapple (9:11.90, seventh) and Joshua Lopez (9:17.30, 10th).
In the 600 meters, sophomore Henry Morris jumped to third in the school record book as he timed in at 1:27.84. Classmate Aidan Hurley was just behind, moving to fourth in school history at 1:27.97.
Freshman Nathan Sikorski delivered another top-10 time in the mile, posting 4:33.38 to jump to ninth in school history in his first collegiate track meet.
The indoor season gets underway in full following the semester break when the Bonnies return to action Saturday, Jan. 25 at the SPIRE Midwest Invite.
