2/21/2025 11:33:00 PM

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's track team turned in several personal bests Friday night at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up to wrap up the indoor regular season.

Clay Peets turned in the winning time for the 3000 meters as he crossed the finish line with a run of 8:33.02, besting the field of 31 competitors by over a full second.

Also in the 3000, Ethan Luce (9:04.68) and Jared Deno (9:14.46) recorded the sixth and 10th individual-best times for the program record book.

Drew Carlson jumped to eighth in the program record book with a personal best mile time of 4:28.82 which was good for ninth out of 46 competitors in Friday's event. William McCarthy also ran his best indoor mile time at 4:30.07, moving to ninth individually in program history. Casey Malloy also gave the Bonnies a new program top-10 time in the mile as he crossed the stripe in 4:30.47.

Brendan Chapple (51.77) and Aiden Scattergood (53.20) set new program top-10 times in the 400, leaping to third and fifth respectively. Chapple placed third out of 27 competitors Friday night and won his heat.

Nathan Sikorski (1:59.90) and Ryan Umiker (2:02.08) posted new Bonnies top-10 marks in the 800 meters as well.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The men's and women's teams showcased strong performances as they prepare for the upcoming championship meet next week. Despite a challenging season with limited track workouts—often having to train on treadmills or take advantage of rare outdoor days —the athletes demonstrated resilience and determination, giving their best efforts across all events. Their hard work and adaptability despite the obstacles bodes well for team culture.

"At the meet tonight, athletes who had already qualified (for A-10 Championships) for their events ran down to focus on improving their speed, while those who hadn't yet qualified had another opportunity to race and secure their spots. As the regular season wraps up, many athletes achieved personal bests and several made it onto the top-10 record board. Looking ahead to the A-10 Championships, both the men's and women's teams are well represented, with 15 athletes for men's squad and 12 women qualifying. It's a strong finish to a season marked by perseverance and growth, setting the stage for a competitive championship meet."
