Hall of Fame
Noted both as a competitor and wrestling coach, he won the National Amateur Title (A.A.U) and was undefeated as intercollegiate champion in 1927.
As a member of the U.S. Olympic Team in 1928 competing in Amsterdam placing fourth in the heavyweight division, he ultimately became the Heavyweight Champion of the World in 1931.
Quick and powerful, he took on the name "Ed Don George" and began his professional career shortly after returning from the Olympics. He captured the AWA World Heavyweight Championship on December 10, 1930.Â
He was inducted to the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2006.
