St. Bonaventure

A mentor, a calming voice and a friend were just a few of the things that Father Gerald T. McCaffrey, O.F.M., was to St. Bonaventure’s student-athletes for more than 20 years.

A friendly face that could routinely be found on the practice fields on a daily basis, Father Gerald was dedicated to helping student-athletes and coaches enjoy the athletic experience. In 1969, Father Gerald was appointed Vice President of Student Affairs, allowing him to develop a similar relationship with the rest of the student body. Athletics is where his heart lay, though, and in 1973, Father Gerald was named Moderator of Athletics. Father Gerald’s impact can’t be measured by statistics but by the number of people whose experience at St. Bonaventure he helped make that much better.
