A smooth-swinging and fleet-footed center fielder, Tom Middleton was not only the best baseball player on St. Bonaventure's campus from 1960-63, he also was renowned throughout the region. 

A three-time all-star selection by the Western New York College Baseball Conference, Middleton led St. Bonaventure in batting, RBI, runs, hits and on-base percentage three years in a row. His junior and senior seasons, he hit better than .500. In 1962, he opened the season with 10 consecutive hits, a Bona record that still stands.

After graduation, the South Orange, N.J., native was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Among his five years of service was a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Middleton is now retired and resides in Branchburg, N.J.
