Hall of Fame
A standout in three sports, Walter Carew started as a halfback in football (1937-1939), a forward in basketball (1937-1940), and a shortstop in baseball (1937-1940).
Demonstrating the best qualities of a student, he was designated the Ideal Bonaventure Man (1940).
During the war, Carew was an army infantry captain who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Twice wounded, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
Carew was also inducted into the Massachusetts State Basketball and Football Hall of Fame.
