Mitchell P. Smiarowski enjoyed a standout career for the St. Bonaventure University’s football squad. He played four years of Varsity football and was a Co-Captain. A key piece of an outstanding offensive line as a center and also anchoring the defense as a middle linebacker.

In 1948, he was chosen:
All-Catholic, All-American and Williamson All-American “Most Valuable Player”/Middle group.

In 1949, he was chosen:
All-American/Middle group/Williamson Rating System, Selected to: United Press/Second Team/All-East, and played for the North Team in the North-South All-Star game – played at the original Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.

In 1950, Selected NFL Draft: 14th round (171st overall) Baltimore Colts

In 1951, Mitch earned and signed an NFL Contract with the New York Yanks.
